I recently used a Flip video with an Aquapac underwater housing in the Sea of Cortez and it worked well though it was a little hard to get to the power switch. I found when editing the video that to compensate for my moving the camera around too much that if I used the "half speed" effect on Windows Movie Maker it made the video much less sickening to watch. Or just hold the camera as still as you can when shooting.
It did not fit my Flip Ultra. too small by 1/8". Will take my Flip to a store to check the fit before purchasing another underwater case.
We are a bit nervous about the information on keeping it free of hair, sand etc., so didn't take the cover off while in the Parks. This is the best money that we have spent in awhile. Just a tiny bit dispointed on the volume of the recordings but guess that is to be expected when the unit is completely sealed. Took it to Disney World and had a blast on the water rides and at the Water Parks. Took a lot of abuse and didn't leak even in the slightest. All of the feature buttons worked great too. Love this thing.
I will probably keep it in the case most of the time for that reason. No problem, no leaks, and the video is relatively distortion free, but, as expected, the sound is somewhat muffled.
Unfortunately, out of deep water, I'm not so smart. On a recent trip I put my flip in the pocket of a wet bathing suit (in a neoprene case).
As a divemaster, I am well acquainted with underwater cameras and maintaining integrity of the camera components. I checked the seals and the operation, crossed fingers and dove into the pool.
It took two days to dry out before it would operate again. I went online and ordered the underwater case, even after reading the reviews about all the leaks.
Strangely enough the buttons on the flip work far easier in the case than out of the case. So far, so good.
(Tom Allen) and this up on [.]. Here's some video i shot while surfing.
every function workes perfectly. great, easy to use, well worth the money.
But i'll buy another one and the case is fine, just make certain you check the seal. However, it leaked with i didn't check the seal.
it rolled out of position and my flip is toast. [.].
I also use a GoPro Wide Angle mounted on my boards.
